Echoes of Silence
A reflection on silence and the battle between mind and heart.
In a flick of a moment
our paths diverged
It feels like yesterday
my existence mattered
Now slowly
turning into a stranger
A shock wave struck
shattered and confused
I chased a thousand WHYs
echoes of silence returned
Resilience never gave up
finally a response
"its still the same"
But her actions showed otherwise
unable to let go
explanations followed
the silence continued
I was pushed
into a purgatory
swung between let go and hold
confusion grew
prayed for a closure
Was ready for a No
though bitter
heart craved for peace
ground drifted further
and suddenly I was all alone
among the ruins of us
I stood there
unmoved and unguided
slowly the silence grew louder
and the closure nowhere near
weight of ruins was heavy
Yet I carried
hoping one day
you'd carry it with me.
A hope for a fix stayed
meeting you after this
I find my rhythm dead
in between the battle of mind and heart
I was unable to speak
Days passed.
Still processing the pain.
Hours slipped into rumination.
A day's work
stretched into a week.
somehow trying to finish things
tasted few wins
I dialed your number
My thumb
never reached
the call button.
I typed a message.
It found
another home
Drafts.
You had the freedom
to reach across
I had the longing,
but not the courage anymore.
Lost all my energy
carrying us alone.
My cup ran empty,
and stayed that way.
I stayed deep waiting for you
at least to meet midway
you stayed near the surface
I swam up
to maintain balance
while my heart
stayed beneath the surface.
Seasons passed.
Purpose filled my days.
The pain grew quieter,
the scars remained.
I surrounded myself
with dreams difficult to reach.
They couldn't replace the emptiness,
but they taught it to breathe
The pain returns now and then,
reminding me of the time
when I gave all my heart
and heard only echoes of silence.
Our choices
as different as chalk and cheese.
Somewhere between them,
we lost
the road back
It reminds me that,
We sparkled like fireworks
too bright for a moment,
until the darkness chose to stay.
Life goes on.
I may taste success,
climb mountains I once only dreamed of.
Yet somewhere,
a quiet echo
still remembers my silence.
